DESIGN TECHNOLOGY AT KS3

The course is built upon the National Curriculum core activity of designing and making. Pupils will work in Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles and Food Technology.

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY AT KS4

Design & Technology requires students to combine their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding, in order to design and make good quality products. 

There are four courses offered in this subject area. The specific courses are outlined below.

1.  Graphics Technology - which concentrates on the graphic communication (drawing & modelling) of ideas for designing and making.

2.  Catering - which concentrates on the study of food materials for designing and making.

3.  Textiles Technology - which concentrates on the study of textiles, fabrics and fashion for designing and making. 

4. Construction Technology - a vocational course designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills required in the Construction industry.

SIXTH FORM

BTEC in Construction

This course provides students with an introduction to the structure of the Construction industry, its social and economic significance and the wide range of work undertaken by the industry. 

BTEC in Hospitality

An introductory course designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills required in the Hospitality industry, its social and economic significance and the wide range of work undertaken by the industry.
